Banff Hot Springs Tourism♨️

Banff’s hot springs are one of the most visited attractions in Banff National Park, offering a perfect blend of relaxation, natural beauty, and history. Whether you’re looking to unwind after a day of adventure or simply experience Canada’s famous geothermal pools, the hot springs provide a unique and refreshing escape.

Where to Experience Hot Springs in Banff

The Banff Upper Hot Springs is the only commercially operated hot spring open to the public. Located at an elevation of 1,585 meters (5,200 feet), it offers a soothing soak with panoramic views of Mount Rundle. The water is rich in natural minerals like sulfate, calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonate, which are believed to have therapeutic benefits.

While other historic hot spring sites exist in Banff, such as the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, they are no longer open for bathing but serve as educational and cultural attractions where visitors can learn about the park’s rich history.

When to Visit?

Banff’s hot springs are open year-round, making them a great activity no matter the season:

  • Winter ❄️ – Enjoy a warm soak while surrounded by snow-covered peaks. Ideal for après-ski relaxation.
  • Spring & Fall 🍂 – Fewer crowds, pleasant weather, and perfect for pairing with hiking or sightseeing.
  • Summer ☀️ – A popular time for visitors; ideal for early morning or late evening visits to avoid peak crowds.
